A Creative Approach to Procrastination for Coaches and Therapists
In this series for Onlinevents, we cover three Ps of self-sabotage: People Pleasing, Perfectionism and Procrastination. All are interconnected and share common roots, so knowing how to tackle these head on can bring huge growth for clients.
Session 3 is on Procrastination. Procrastination paralyses our progress, keeping us from completing tasks and goals that matter hugely to us. Our diverting actions and ‘busyness’ keep us treading water instead of moving forwards towards our goals and dreams. The causes of procrastination are complex. They often affect our clients, but can also show up as our secret enemy as coaches and therapists, especially if you are self-employed!
Learning Objective Participants Can Expect From This Event
- How to spot the triggers of procrastination and re-programme your brain
- How to go beneath the presenting issue to the assumptions and hidden rules driving procrastination
- How to use the cycle of procrastination and transform it into the cycle of action
Who is This Workshop Appropriate For?
- Coaches and counsellors
How May This Workshop Impact Your Practice?
- Will improve your ability to help clients overcome Procrastination, and enable you to reflect on your own patterns too.
RECORDING
This workshop will be recorded and you can use the ticket function to pre-purchase the recording before the event. This will be useful for colleagues who are not able to attend the event live and also for those who attend the event live and want to watch it again.
A Creative Approach to Perfectionism for Coaches and Therapists
In this series for Onlinevents, we cover three Ps of self-sabotage: People Pleasing, Perfectionism and Procrastination. All are interconnected and share common roots so knowing how to tackle these head on can bring huge growth for clients.
Session 2 is on Perfectionism. One of the tricky things with ‘perfection’ is that it appears as an alluring and beneficial goal to work towards. Once achieved we will feel supremely satisfied, and be filled with self-confidence. However, it just doesn’t work like that! Attempting to reach perfection can come at a huge cost to the individual, leading to stress, anxiety, dissatisfaction and ultimately burnout. But, turn it into healthy high standards and it can work both for performance AND for the individual.
Learning Objective Participants Can Expect From This Event
- To give you practical strategies to help your clients become less self-critical, improve their self-worth and build a healthy identity
- To teach you to distinguish between healthy high standards and toxic perfectionism
- To recognise the fears that underlie perfectionism, of failure or rejection, and the role of self-compassion for the perfectionist
Who is This Workshop Appropriate For?
- Coaches and counsellors
How May This Workshop Impact Your Practice?
- Will improve your ability to help clients overcome Pefectionist patterns, and enable you to reflect on your own behaviour patterns.
Freeing your Clients from Guilt and Shame
Help yourself and your clients work through guilt and shame – it doesn’t have to hold you back
Online session
Feelings of guilt can keep us stuck in patterns of behaviour that serve no one. We often see this in clients who are on the brink of making big changes, but their feelings of guilt keep them from taking action and moving towards what they really want.
Shame is one of our most hidden emotions, and is rarely brought openly into the coaching space. This stance may be present for both coach and client, and can cause profound blocks to growth, effectiveness and fulfilment.
Do you feel equipped and able to work with both of these emotions? Many coaches avoid these topics, in the name of keeping the client ‘safe’, or not working in a ‘therapeutic’ way. But at what cost?
This session will bring robust understanding, clarity and compassion to these issues, to help you deal with it for yourself and your clients. It will enable you to explore the topic of guilt, and try out three exercises that will help your clients make the shifts needed for growth. We will also offer a live demonstration of an effective approach to working with shame. This will be followed by a discussion and reflective questions.
We will cover:
- Understanding the difference between guilt and shame and how they are related.
- Unpacking the constituents and impact of guilt.
- Three approaches to working effectively with guilt.
- An effective process for safely investigating shame.
This session will be interactive, and will help us discover ways to feel safe working with clients in these sensitive areas.
We are committed to making this work available to as many as possible, so if your income restrictions make this unaffordable, please contact us, as we have a small number of lower cost places available.
Autumn Series – November
How to Navigate Burnout
Burnout is a habitual state that seriously affects clients’ ability to think clearly, be productive, and enjoy what they do.
With Western society seeing ‘busyness’ and being ‘always on’ as badges of honour, it is important for clients to know how to put their wellbeing first.
In this session we unravel what takes clients (and coaches) into Burnout, and explore why it is so addictive.
We will cover:
- Understanding the psychology of burnout
- How to notice the symptoms of burnout vs. stress
- Three things to do to come back to equilibrium
- Practices and tools to prevent burnout in the future
We will offer ways of stepping off the path of over busyness, and look at how we can become role models for our clients in living more resourcefully.
Remember – you can book all three sessions in the autumn series for the discounted rate of £130, just choose ‘triple ticket’ at checkout. If you can’t do any of the dates live, we’ll send you the recording.
We are committed to making this work available to as many as possible, so if your income restrictions make this unaffordable, please contact us, as we have a small number of lower cost places available.

Autumn Series – October
Coaching the Whole Person
It’s easy for any of us to get stuck in a particular way of coaching. However, keeping our perspective wide, seeing all aspects of the client and their interaction with their environment, can make our coaching far more effective.
As coaches we need an awareness of the micro – a clients’ inner processes, responses and patterns, and the macro – their outer context and systems.
Holding both these perspectives allows us to be flexible, and allows information to emerge from different layers within our clients.
To develop this awareness we will cover:
- Why ‘somatic’ coaching is effective
- How to enable clients to regulate their nervous system
- Seeing the past as part of the present
- How to work with clients unique systems
Together, these approaches can help shift habituated patterns which often keep clients stuck and enable them to move forward with more agency
Remember – you can book all three sessions in the autumn series for the discounted rate of £140, just choose ‘triple ticket’ at checkout. If you can’t do any of the dates live, we’ll send you the recording.

Habits & Identity
How to use habits to supercharge change
“Every action you take is a vote for the person you wish to become”. James Clear (Atomic Habits)
James Clear, habit expert, sees daily habits as key to changing behaviour and becoming the person you want to be.
Research shows that small habits, consistently applied, can lead to huge shifts in behaviour and self-perception. This quickly leads to higher self-esteem, and increased motivation.
Helping clients put good habits in place is therefore central to our job as coaches.
You will learn:
- Exactly how habits contribute to change
- Key principles that help clients change old habits and succeed with new ones
- The mindset shifts that make it easy
- The role of identity in habit change
- Practical and easy to follow tools and technique
This interactive session will give you practical tools and resources to encourage and motivate your clients in their search for a more productive way of living.
